Broke East Meet 2019

Author/Video: Tj Sanethong

Rolling out of bed in the morning is the least popular action to perform unless its for something you actually want to do. All those memes about enthusiasts not having a problem waking up for events is true, for the most part at least. You wake up get ready then run out to get your car ready and warmed up to meet up with your buddies for a beautiful morning drive. Today started to follow that path with the exception of the beautiful day part. Its been real damp, cold, and gloomy in the northeast lately. Some days it almost feels like the rain forest with the amount of rain we’ve been getting. At first it was soothing but after the first week it started to get real old.

So today (or a few Sundays ago) is the ever so famous Broke East Meet. If you’ve ever been to one you would know that its one of the bigger shows in New England. This is the first of a many shows for the year hosted by them and its usually banger. If you read my entry covering last years event (Broke East 2018?) you probably have an idea at how this show is going to look. Last year we had some overcast but it was dry for the most part. Today? 100% wet 100% of the day.

The whole ride up I was thinking that one of two things are going to happen. 1. The show gets rained out and they move the show to another date or 2. Rain or shine they just keep sending it. You can probably guess which one they went with. It all started really light, so in my mind i expected the show to be washed (no pun intended). Within the next 30 or so minutes the headlights start rolling in large groups, and when I mean large I mean this was starting to look like an army coming through.

As I was filming the cars started to multiply and before you know it the track was getting filled fast. I’m talking from the back straight of Thompson all the way through the oval section of the 1.7 mile track.

Main Event:

It was the main event for me at least. The Lock City crew came back again to bless the people with true grassroots drifting. The event was just like last years, the difference were the cars. Despite being wet out they were all able to find their groove and absolutely kill both demos. Luckily for the crowd, the second session was a bit dryer allowing the boys to send it a little hard each time.

Below is the very first Crate Street video covering an event. All likes comments and subscribers are appreciated.
