Canibeat:
I could start by telling you about the origins of Canibeat but i’d be afraid to have incorrect information on an event so special. Instead lets talk about my experience and how I found Canibeat. The year is 2010, It’s my second semester of college and all I can think about is owning my first car. Books, having a bright future, all of that stuff didn’t matter to me at the moment. I spent majority of my time scouring forums for the coolest cars and saving them to my hard drive for later reference. As I search I bump into a Honda group called Dumpedstars. They were all about slamming their cars as low as possible while still retaining the ability to drive them ( There’s an argument there of what drivable is) I was obviously fascinated by this and continue to find more cars like this. As i started to dig I bumped into blogs and tumblr posts with names like Stance Nation, Hellaflush, Illest, and Canibeat associated with this low fitted scene. Without realizing at the time, I was witnessing the birth of stance in North America. Now most of those blogs and business may have started earlier but I found them at this time and let me tell you I was hooked.
The Gallery:
We got up that morning excited to finally roll into the show we’ve been raving about for weeks. The car was still taped up from last nights voyage down from Massachusetts. The plan was to find a car wash to clean it up a bit before we drove in, of course we couldn’t find one nearby that was self serve. We don’t trust automatic washes at all (Im sure you guys can relate to that). We pulled into a Wawa and peeled the tape. Figured we could just use the waterless car wash to get it somewhat pretty.
For not washing the car at all, she was still looking real good in line.
Luckily for us they parked us next to some familiar faces at the show. Team Ronin came in with most of their camp ( The homie E.C didnt make the cut unfortunately).
Remember Martin from Wekfest? He had another last minute adventure for this show just like the last. If my memory serves me correct the motor let go on him a few weeks prior, got it rebuilt and re-tuned just days before the event. Talk about dedication.
Just looking at the cars in the surrounding area said a lot about the show. Lots of heavy hitting variety in every nook and cranny of the airport.
It took us some time to get her cleaned up ( especially the wheels) but we got her looking alright considering how she didn’t get washed. Now lets go check out some of the builds.
One of the most interesting BMW 635 CSI’s ive ever seen. I mean that in a good way too. Rat rod style cars will always be one of the coolest genre of cars to me. They come up with the most creative ways to do things. For example, check out this air conditioning unit. Not sure how it works ( Or if it even works) but it looks rad.
The pup had more heat on that I did that day. Bape shark hoodie on the lil homie, we see you bro!
The Team Ronin boys came to through and flex heavy that day. Quality Subaru’s, something thats hard to come by in our area. Its always a treat seeing them at shows.
Tough Club also came swinging with their awesome lineup as well.
Joe of Team Ronin walking his dog in style.
Probably one of my favorite photos I took that day.
This E30 was one of my favorites of the day. The livery catches you but the details bring you in. Check out those rad headlight shields.and the turbo fans.
Halcyon, one of the greats on youtube covering the show. Krispy was also running around grabbing shots. Expect some banger coverage from these guys in the near future.
The array of color radiating from this particular section alone could be seen from afar. Not only were they bright, they were all tastefully modified. Very Japanese I’d say.
Grape goodness. The perfect shades of purple in my opinion.
I was stoked to see this car hiding in front of the main hanger. If you don’t know about this car, just look at the engine bay and it’ll tell all. One of the baddest Subarus on my list for many reasons, one of them being the burnout that this thing can lay down.
The main hanger did not lack in the heat department either. Its safe to say the whole event was packing so much detail and quality it was almost overwhelming.
Pandem kits are everywhere but this was the first time i’ve seen a pandem kit for an Fc3s in person. Some may disagree but those headlights in the grill section is pretty cool.
Three different platforms three different styles all insanely cool.
Corey’s super clean GD tucked away from the rest of the pack.
Even with all the heavy hitting cars to look at, i was still able to be distracted by this corgi. I totally forgot his/her name but I definitely couldn’t forget this face.
Winding Down:
I probably looped around the lot 5 or 6 times, each time i found a car i missed or was able to shoot a car without a crowd of people in front of it. Unfortunately for us we decided to leave early with our friends instead of staying for what was the most photogenic part of the show, the sunset. Im bummed we missed it but that was definitely a bad call on my part.
As you see below there are ton of photos and lots of cars id love to talk about but this post would be way too drawn out and late (as if it wasn’t already). Thank you to the team at Canibeat for throwing such an amazing show. Although it was my first and last time there, know that it was an unforgettable time.
