Town Fair Tire Presents 45th Annual World of Wheels
Article/Photos By: Tj Sanethong
After weeks of putting this I finally get to cover world of wheels. Every year I always plan to attend this event but never seem to find my way there until this year. Days before I was searching the internet for coverage from previous years. Oddly enough there wasn’t much at all, let alone anything from the Boston shows over the years. This gives me the perfect opportunity to take advantage and dive into the show as a media personal.
I went in with the intent of finding some gems the resto-mod and classic car builders use to implement into my build. To dive into a different setting of car culture that i’m not normally in is very humbling and inspiring. The styles are different across each platform but just like every scene you have the common theme of purists, the freethinkers and the enthusiast that are okay with just enough for them. Today had a good mix of everything but what attracted me were the free thinkers.
I’ll let everyone know off hand I know nothing about nothing and im not afraid to learn about what I dont know. Take this for example. I dont know what it is, what it runs on or what its built for but its one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Something about rat rods are cool. Its weird because they’re almost like unfinished projects that look finished in its own way. The grungy style exterior makes it fierce but the low style makes them super rad.
As you can already tell there were no shortages of this rat rod style here. Whats cool is that most of these trucks were on air. Air lift and Accuair were common names I saw floating around these trucks. Having it slammed set the style in the right direction, but all the minor details really pull these trucks together. The fuel cell, the wood bed, the rusted yet very clean and very whole exterior pieces all played their part in creating a great truck.
Now dancing along the same category but leaning towards more of the show side is this build. It reminds of the stance builds. Actually now that I think about it, the rat rod and stance community have similar mindsets. Keep it low, keep it clean, be unique and raise the bar with style.
The next aisle over had a very small group of low riders. As a kid I was always fascinated by low riders because they were so different than the regular cars on the road. Super small wheels, super low if they weren’t flexing their hydraulics, but most importantly the paint. In my opinion there are no two of the same low riders that I’ve seen at least. They may be the same car with similar styles but the paint is always what separates these builds. This car for example was literally a work of art.
Detail game was very strong in the low rider section. It would be hard to judge who had the the better paint scheme in this category.
Remember how I said I didnt know what to expect? In the far left corner of the convention center had a few imports & euros hanging around. One of the cleaner examples of the group is Tylers WRX.
He wasn’t the only stanced import in the venue. As you can see this Genesis coupe was holding it down for the tilty boiz as well.
I wont make this post long as i’m sure you guys don’t want to read through every picture I write about, and i’m sure it’ll all be repetitive if i do so. I’ll dump the photos for everyone to check out below.
