OEM Plus 2nd Annual Open House

Author/Photos : Tj Sanethong

Several weeks ago I took a trip to sunny side San Diego California for weekend and found more than I had intended. I was suppose to slow down from my chaotic life, finally meet and reunite with friends in the area, and find some inner peace. Instead I was surrounded by endless amounts of inspiration from various artists throughout my trip. Their passion shined through their pieces, whether it was a vehicle they built, a painting they did or an immersive experience that they created. Speaking of immersive experiences, I attended one that made me feel every emotion. The Oem Plus Open House.

Oem Plus was founded in 2019, the establishment found a pocket in the oversaturated aftermarket automotive market that reached the heart and souls of many Honda enthusiasts. They not only provide quality Oem and aftermarket parts to fit your vehicles needs but also provide an alignment service that focuses on drivability an aesthetic. The True position suspension service is more than just an option, it gives drivers the confidence knowing their vehicle not only feels its best but also looks its best. President, founder John Ly and Vice President Kai Chan had been building Hondas for a very long time. It was only natural for them to continue that tradition when they moved to the other side of the country in the pursuit of happiness. I was fortunate enough to witness and build with them in the past, but nothing would have prepared us for what they have built for themselves today. It all started as an idea which grew into a mass of JDM parts sprawled out in Johns living room which evidently grew into the headquarters you see before you. What makes this shop so unique is that they go out of their way to guide you to your goals. The road may look different with each customer but the goal is the same, to ensure that the person is happy.

Now I’m sure most of you reading this have attended a cars and coffee event before. On the surface level, this event can be argued that its just that. My personal opinion on it would be that the people came for the cars but stayed for the people. There was so much love, respect and joy for one another that it was hard not to smile being in that area. It was like a big family reunion. Every vehicle there was top tier quality with drivers to match it. I don’t know if it was the California sun, the absolutely delicious coffee provided by Three Spoke Coffee, or the fantastic scents provided by Home Base Smell Good Co. but everyone was beyond happy to be there. There was a lot to cover as you’ll see in the pictures below. Enjoy the content and I’ll see you on my next adventure.

John showed out and provided us with two iconic hatchback silhouettes. His newly acquired Civic Si and his daily driver Volkswagen GTI.

Joy not only provided premium caffeine show, but also brought her freshly painted Garage Vary kitted NB miata.

You may recognize this guy or this car from his hilarious Tik Tok video. Scotts car was already at OEM plus for a complete suspension overhaul which he was beyond stoked with. This C-West kitted integra is for sure one of a kind.

The event brought a little bit of everything. Street car to overland, all the flavors made an appearance.

Three Spoke Coffee getting ready for the rush.

A very used FC3S emerged attempting to blend in the crowd. One of the coolest cars at the event for me.

Bill who is the media side of the OEM Plus team showed up with his simple yet effective GX.

The EP3 isn’t everyone’s favorite but examples like this one could quickly change your mind.

The legend Randall aka Sintype brought his EK4 and showed us his style and man oh man is it good.

I’ve seen Kevins Integra on the internet a lot and I have always admired the color combo. It was a nice surprise to see it in the flesh.

Prodrive x Stoptech for the gentleman racer.

That BoomBoomTisk review on Three Spoke coffee provided by Billson himself.

Another legend made an appearance at the event. Damien Abrams GS is one of the best. I never met him but I heard many stories about how great of a soul he was.

Where else can you go to see two spoon themed spa yellow s2000’s casually together? OEM Plus

Sir I think you’re missing something

Its so simple but this car is easily my favorite car at the event. The color combo and execution is amazing. Its refreshing to see someone really remix this setup.

BBS E88’s on the daily driver is pretty cool.

After the show John showed me the Pacific Coast Highway for the first time. I don’t have many pictures of it because I was in awe. I basically fell in love with San Diego that day.
